Beach Days

Summer goal: to go to the beach about once a week...unless we decide we don't want to. I can't imagine not wanting to...we love the beach. (Especially when mommy and daddy get to sneak out and surf!)

Please Pray

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. Psalm 4: 1(NKJV)

Please pray for our cousin (Ryan's cousin) Kelsey. She has just been diagnosed with malignant cancer and now they are looking to make sure that it hasn't spread anywhere else. Our family would really appreciate if you took the time to look at her blog and pray along with us.

Thank you for your prayers.
Love,
The Hayes and Kennedy Families

Camping with Mommy!

Josiah, Kaila and I snuck away for a little adventure time during my spring break. We spent two nights in MontaƱa de Oro with my good friend Jaime. Julie joined us for first night and Ryan joined us for the next one.

Josiah, Kaila and I all enjoyed the splendors of the outdoors....Some things were ment to be enjoyed outside.

Evening walk to the cliffs and to the beautiful ocean veiw.

Yea Julie!

Before the girls arrived, Josiah, Kaila and I went to Starbucks and got coffee and juices, then we set up the campsite and went for a hike, and then we went and played at the beach! What a fun date-day for me and the kids. I'm hoping to slowly grow their their love for the things I love so that we can all do them together for years to come!

Now we're excited to go camping with Daddy! I'm already making reservations!

Snuggle Bug

We just love our little girl. She brings a smile to my face almost constantly all day. Kaila's personality is really  showing up. First of all, she is a little snuggle bug. Every morning she tucks in and lays her head on our chest to drink her bottle and snuggle. Sometimes for no apparent reason she runs over to us and give us a big hug and a kiss. When she's sleepy or mellow, she will crawl into our arms and just sit there, soaking up hugs. She is soooo cute. Being a snuggler myself, I am in heaven.

I love her huge toothy smiles, like when she's jumping on the trampoline or just being excited about life in general.  She has this cute front tooth that Ryan and I noticed was chipped one day in the bath, we have no idea how she did it (way to go observant parents).

Then there's her little looks. She communicates so much with her eyes and face! She has little one eyed glares,  furtive glances, and mock-humility when we tell her she's cute. Then there's the back-arching screams and alligator tears...because everyone should know that not being allowed to eat strawberries while running around the house is pretty much the end of the world.

Sometime Ryan and I just look at each other and start laughing.

We just love our little Kaila Marie!

Easter 2013 He is Risen!

I have to admit. Easter snuck up on us this year.  I feel like I didn't prepare my heart during the lenten season like I could have. The celebration of Christ's resurrection is so huge, so deep, so profound, and unfortunately this year, I feel like I missed out.  Sorry to have a sad Easter post, but it's true.

Our family time was good though! I didn't get a good picture of everyone but here are a few shots.

Just after the Easter-egg hunt.

We book-ended the Easter day with vomiting. Kaila threw up first thing in the morning, and Josiah threw up around 11pm. Because of that, we had a mellow stay-home morning. My favorite part was our little family bible-study together in Josiah's room that Ryan led.

We taught Josiah and Kaila just enough...
Mommy and Daddy: "Josiah, what happened on Easter?"
Josiah: "Jesus rose from the dead!....Ummmm, Jesus not like the dead?...Winny the poo like the dead?"
Kaila: "weeus  oose eead!!" Translation-"Jesus rose dead!"
Yep, just enough. : )

Josiah hadn't thrown up yet and Kaila didn't really seem sick at all, so we still ventured out to our family gathering. My Granny hosted, like she always does, and provided a beautiful meal.

 Regardless of my state, it remains true that the greatest gift we have ever been given can be summarized by the traditional exclamation;

"He is Risen!"

The response,  "He is Risen Indeed" rings in my head and I am so grateful for God's deep love and forgiveness on the cross.
Happy Easter
